So, it´s very very very hard.. too hard :) People, which started learning Slovak after their childhood usually talks as idiots :) I think that English is easier language as Slovak :) No, I am sure. :)

I'll try anyway:
If you go to the horsetrack you can guess which horse will win and that way win a lot of money: that's making a bet
Bet's are often made in sports on the outcome of a race or game. You can also bet in casino's or amongst friends: 'I'll bet you can't jump that high', or whatever bet you make...

That was excellent. :)

And for the first thread post in months....

Hello everyone ,

I'm usually known as Woodbury. I've been reading many of the discussions here for about a month or so, waiting for Jeremy to open forum registration again, trying to trick the computer into letting me sign up =P .

I'm pretty new to inline. I live in Logan, UT, a couple of hours from Salt Lake, where even there there isn't a scene that I know of =) . "Utah" doesn't even bring up any search results on the forums haha. Anyway I started skating with a friend occasionally only about two months ago, giving in by buying some crappy Rollerblades from a local sporting goods store. I'm usually one to research a lot about what I'm doing, so I was soon wading through lots of articles, discussions, reviews, etc and really learning about skating, which is practically non-existent here. I took a liking to freestyle & slalom skating from all I had seen, and by default came across Sebas. It wasn't long before I got sick of my plastic toy bladerunners with virtually no ankle support nor fit to prevent blisters on my in-between sized feet. By peeping these forums, I found Stacy and contacted her for an order, including some rockers. Needless to say, I'm extremely happy with them and loving it, and go out just about every night.

I primarily do what I take as 'freestyle', just skating around and doing whatever. I mix it with slalom a lot by stopping to practice moves wherever I find fitting... open areas with nice concrete and the likes. I don't have cones (yet) but I am constantly practicing the tricks and am going at them one at a time, trying to nail each down pretty good before I move on.

Great to be on and see the community, looking forward to being part of it.

Hey I am Abe, I saw some people doing this downtown in china and found some friends that did it at the school i was studying abroad there last semester and i had a blast doing it, As soon as i saw what they where doing i spent the next two weeks trying to track down a pair that would fist of all fit me and second be good for slalom, But now i am back in the States still doing it i had to get me a new pair of skates state side kinda started to total mine from I guess some what beginnerness and trying to learn some stair tricks and maybe a few escalator tricks gone bad.... Anyways i cant get enough of it i have been slaloming for about 4 months and i really want a chance to meet up with more people who do it so we can learn from each other but from what i have seen the Slalom population in Minnesota twin cites is 3 maybe if i count one of my cats as one, I hope to maybe get the resources to travel around and meet and see people who do this kind of stuff but for now I am stuck I hope to get some videos made soon since i finally found a good place to do it since I think that might help me improve + my Friends in china and here want to see what i can do even though its pretty bad at this point. But i only have two places to go Bloody Feet or Starting to look somewhat good... maybe both the way i go at it ^^

I like your all in approach. You will learn 10x faster that way.
I used to love skating stairs. You might say I was addicted. Keep up the diversity. Aggressive, free riding, cones…. Do it all.

Welcome to the forum Abe.

Like you, I think mixing up your skating disciplines is great to keep the interest up. Also, if you skate hard, I suggest chocolate milk afterward - its like the best recovery drink ever. Will help recharge you for the next time you skate.

BTW - Guiggs, a local (Atlanta) skater (not on this forum) who does some slalom may be moving to your area sometime this year. If he does, I'll give you his contact info.

Keep practicing, and spread the word about Freestyle Slalom,
greg

OH OH OH! If you reallywant to meet a ton of great slalomers, come join us at BattleUS, the US freestyle championship, in San Francisco this summer, June 12-13. You can find more info about it in this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=25&t=1776

Its great seeing some of the world's top slalomers skate, but its even cooler hanging out w/ everyone over the weekend. Very much a family atmosphere. All levels are welcome to compete, but, if you are not comfortable doing that, you can just watch and hang out. Highly recommended.

Hard to say, though I do crazy & crazy leg variants way too much. I also have a weakness for one-cone tricks and backwards snake, but one day I hope to be cured of this affliction. I'll then, finally, be able to complete an entire line of 20. No technical, please.

FaceBook Slalom Group: Atlanta Freestyle Slalom

Wants to say

If any of you guys live/are visting Atlanta, PM me if you want to skate. We also have a street-skating group, Atlanta Peachtree Road Rollers that do night skates (mainly Mon/Tue/Wed nights). Just be sure you like hills.
